Desert Rose

BCBGeneration crop top and wide leg pants, Free People sunglasses, Jeffrey Campbell sandals from Need Supply, Stella 9 backpack from Threadsence, Love + Leather necklace

Kiara, Natalie and I couldn't help but make a pit stop alongside the freeway on the way to Palm Springs for Coachella last Friday to shoot some desert roaming pictures. No matter where I happen to be going, my head is always in wanderlust mode. I was inspired by an explorer when I put this ensemble together. An explorer who likes this soft and flowing, of course (hence, the wide leg pants). My happy place just happens to be anywhere where the sun soaks right into my skin, and I feel it all around. The desert has limitless possibilities and these blue skies make me think wild, wild thoughts.

LULU*S at Coachella | Hotel California

LULU*S kimono, BCBGeneration denim dress, Free People sunglasses, Jeffrey Campbell sandals from Need Supply, Vanessa Mooney necklace

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
"This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (Any time of year)
You can find it here

- Hotel California by the EAGLES

Palm Springs is like a funny summer dream. I love its vacancy, I love its desert heat and I love every street lined with palm trees. I wouldn't mind making this city my very own Hotel California each and every summer. Thank you to LULU*S and BCBGeneration for making our Coachella trip a dream for us :)

LULU*S at Coachella // Technicolor Trip

LULU*S boho top, Paige denim shorts, Free People sunglasses, Modern Vice boots, Stela 9 backpack from Threadsence, Love + Leather necklace

And there we went again. A third Coachella in a row under our vintage leather belts. I couldn't have asked for a more fitting way to ring in what summer means to me. And with the most perfect people in the world. My sister Natalie and our friend Kiara from Tobruck Ave packed an SUV full of musical dreams and road tripped our way to our desert destinies from Los Angeles. After SXSW, I almost nixed the idea of another music festival so soon after. There is no such thing as rest during Coachella, and rest was all that I really needed. These things can wear you out. But a last minute plan came together thanks to the LULU*S team, and once again that Coachella ella ella temptation hit again and all was meant to be. You know how it is. We jump the bandwagon when you least expect it. We might have made it to Coachella a little later in the afternoon on Friday since I arrived in Los Angeles that morning, but we fit in a great schedule of bands to see, starting with  Ellie Goulding. Still humming her heavenly melodies in my head. I'd never get through the gym without this girl. We caught a bit of Chromeo on our way to see Woodkid, which was absolutely major. A darkly lit tent filled with his intense beats was a hypnotic experience. Woodkid is truly one of a kind. Then off to Girl Talk we went for a major dance party that reminded us that it was going to be a weekend that would feel like a never ending Friday. We ended the night shaking our booties to OutKast.

We slept like babies that night. We ran from stage to stage winding in and out of the packed crowds, dancing the entire way through like flower children. That might have been the best part of Coachella. Being free birds with the feeling of endless space all around us and without a care in the world. Just me and mah girls.

More to come . . . #LULUatCoachella14

Finding Ferdinand // The Color On My Lips

Are ya'll ready for a beauty post? I don't do many of these on here, but I kind of want to more often. Beauty is a fun thing to play around with, and it's something that includes everyone, so why not? My friends over at Finding Ferdinand are doing something super cool in the world of beauty right now. I posted about the company a while back, but here's a recap. Basically you can custom create you own lipstick colors from a foundation of beautiful base colors that they create in a factory on the west coast. Best of all, all ingredients are completely non-toxic! You basically write in a request of your dream lipstick shade on the website and they'll create it. Submit a picture and they'll make sure their creation is the perfect fit for you :)

Now they added something new to the plate: A Customer Beauty Board. By uploading your photos with your custom Finding Ferdinand colors to this board, you help promote a community of beauty lovers who represent beauty in all forms, skin tones, colors, etc. It's great because you get to see colors on other skin tones, helping your color choosing decision. Get the perfect shade of lipstick can be a hard task! The Customer Beauty Board is positive and supportive, making the shopping process that much more fun and far less stressful.

My color? It's called Vamp. A deep, deep plum/wine color is one of my faves for both a day and night look! It's super sexy to me :) It smolders up a basic look, romanticizes even more so something bohemian, and takes you through the entire night without a beat in your little black dress. I love me some Vamp.

Electric Wings

Chaser Brand velvet maxi dress, ELEVEN Paris leather jacket, Frye boots, Vanessa Mooney bracelet and necklace

Spring fling ya'll. Time to bust out my beloved maxi tank dresses and leather jackets. No extra layer required, except for maybe an umbrella. Winter has definitely gotten the best of me these past few weeks. The weather has been up and down, maybe a tad humid here and there with rain at the most random of times. My sinuses and throat are NOT happy. Been sick for a whole week (wasn't I JUST sick like a month ago??). I don't think my body will ever be immune to the harsh effects of the NYC transition to spring. Keeping my head up. As long as I'm better by Coachella. This leather jacket is my electric blue dream boat. Pieces like this truly feel special, standing out from the stark blacks of my coat closet. It wakes up the earthy tones of this bohemian maxi and you just be like WUT? I dig the contrast.
