Just Chilling

Jen's Pirate Booty dress from Crossroads Trading Co.
DANNIJO choker
Vanessa Mooney bracelet

I've been loving a more body-conscious, mid-length dress for the summertime. It feels classy and sexy, but still laid-back. I found this one during a random browse through Crossroads Trading Co. a few months back. As many of you know, I shop a lot of second hand and vintage, and especially so in Brooklyn. It's the easiest way to throw something offbeat into the mix of your everyday wardrobe. Plus, you get more bang for you buck, and that always feels good.

Beach Club Crew

O'Neill swim top
Forever 21 swim bottoms

I'm quite strapped for time as I finish up moving to my new apartment in Brooklyn, so I'll let the photos do the talking this time around. A throwback to a few weeks back at a beach club in Connecticut. Living it up waspy east coast style for a weekend was pretty nice. These people have it good, let me tell you. Being around our friend's kids was quite refreshing. I had to capture every moment.

I can't believe its nearly August. Summer still feels like it JUST began for me. Not an end in sight. Best east coast summer so far, I have to admit. Wouldn't change a thang. Here's to endless summers and being kids at heart forever. xo

P.S.

Totally behind on posts, I know. So much has happened since these pictures were taken. Look forward to more updates on here soon! Trying my best to catch up amongst the craziness.

Pool Party

L*Space one-piece swimsuit (SHOP SIMILAR HERE)
Blackswan crochet shorts (SHOP HERE)

There ain't nothing like a nice long dip in the pool on a hot summer day in the burbs. This one-piece from L*Space might have given me the funkiest tan lines, but I'm totally okay about it. I love how much it reminds me of a ballerina's leotard. Brings me back to my dance team days as a kid. My friend Kiara's cousin's house made for the perfect suburban weekend getaway. Big backyard, something always grilling on the BBQ, a dog to always cuddle with, good conversation with good people, and an endless supply of beers to sip on while you float in the pool. Now this is why I love AMUUUURICA.

As work has become busier and busier for me these past few weeks, these sort of weekends are what I try to indulge in the most. To keep my mind sane and regularly refreshed. It's easy to get burnt out in the city, even as a freelancer who sometimes gets to work out of the comfort of her own bed. The daily grind finds us everywhere we may be. I'm officially moving to my new apartment next week, my parents will be back in town and more projects are piling up. All while constantly coming up with new things to add to the blog. All good things, but for me all good things usually means no sleep and too much coffee. But I'm loving every second of it and just taking it as it comes.

So now, when's my next day at the pool going to be?

Minneapolis with Nicole Miller

PAIGE jeans
Vintage belt
BC Footwear leather shoes
JENNY BIRD choker

Last Tuesday (was it really not that long ago?) was super special. I spent the day with my good friend and fellow blogger Kiara of the blog Tobruck Ave in Minneapolis for the annual MLB All Star Game, in collaboration with Nicole Miller. Many of the baseball star wive's were dressed in Nicole Miller for the All Star parade that kicked off the game earlier in the day. Every NM-clad wife looked stunning. I sported this Jimi Hendrix approved, 70s-style printed blouse by Nicole Miller for the midday festivities before heading to the pre-game party. This blouse represents everything about my taste in clothing. The shape, the movement, the wild print that makes you want to look through kaleidoscope glasses. I got to say, this look drew quite the attention from the locals (the majority decked out in red, white and blue baseball gear), but hey, that's just how I roll. Fitting in goes against my rule book.

All in all, Minneapolis was a wonderful city full of All American spirit, lots of smiles and TONS of baseball. Even though I spent less than 24 hours there, I left with a positive impression and a sparked curiosity that calls for another trip back someday soon.

Stay tuned. More to come from my Minneapolis MLB trip with Nicole Miller soon!

Tune in Tonight | B.O.R.N. To Style

Tonight I'm making sure to catch the latest episode of the FYI™ Network’s new show, B.O.R.N. to Style. The show is a lifestyle makeover series centered on the bad ass crew of Harlem, NYC-based vintage boutique B.O.R.N, and their larger than life boss, Jonathan Bodrick. The team goes on missions to help those desperately in need of some livening up of their wardrobes. The show is more than just a reality show on style transformation, but something that goes beyond just looks. It's a whole lifestyle makeover.

Vintage was what made me fall in love with fashion in the first place. Ever since I was just 13, I roamed the estate sales in Los Angeles for one-of-a-kind vintage pieces. I still have a good chunk of those finds and I was obsessed with the stories that they told. Either real of made up from my imagination, they helped me develop a deeper connection to the clothes I was wearing and the knowledge of generations past. It makes getting dressed up in the morning more interesting and worthwhile, which is why I love the concept of B.O.R.N. to Style. Infusing your everyday life with stories through fashion can make all the difference in helping you discover yourself and tap into your more creative side. I've always been a huge supporter of this. Above are a few of of my favorite vintage pieces that have been posted to the blog. As you can tell, I'm super into exotic patterns and ethnic prints.

B.O.R.N. to Style airs on Tuesdays @10p ET/11p PT, on FYI™ Network. Make sure to tune in!
